Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat politický vývoj Osmanské říše v období před první světovou válkou a stanovit příčiny jejího spojenectví s Německem a následného aktivního zapojení do konfliktu. Práce si klade za cíl zhodnotit, do jaké míry byl vstup Osmanské říše do světového konfliktu nezávislým rozhodnutím jejích představitelů, a nakolik šlo o důsledek pouhé reakce na působení velmocí. Osmanská říše se musela v období před první světovou válkou potýkat s vnitřní nestabilitou, otázkou menšin a mocenskými boji mezi politickými frakcemi. Čelit musela také konfliktu s Itálií a balkánské válce, které dále zhoršovaly postavení Osmanské říše.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to analyse the political development of the Ottoman Empire in the period before the First World War and to determine causes of its alliance with Germany and its subsequent active involvement in the conflict. The thesis aims to assess to what extent the Ottoman Empire's entry into the world conflict represented an independent decision of its leaders, and to what extent was it the result of a mere reaction to the actions of the Great Powers. The Ottoman Empire had to deal with internal instability, minority issues and power struggles between political factions in the period before the First World War. It also faced conflict with Italy and the Balkans War, both of which further deteriorated the Ottoman Empire's position.
