Designing a Smart City Transportation Concept for the City of Liberec

Abstract:

V současné době se prohlubuje problematika spojená s urbanizací, a proto je zapotřebí hledat řešení, jak tento negativní jev zmírnit. Jednou z možností je tzv. Smart City, které výrazně přispívá k udržitelnému rozvoji měst. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je navrhnout koncept Smart City v oblasti dopravy pro město Liberec. Teoretická část zahrnuje charakteristiku konceptu Smart City ve vztahu k dopravě, jeho aktuálních trendů, problémů a výzev spolu s možnostmi financování. Praktická část se soustředí na samotné vytvoření návrhu, který nese název Chytrá cesta k budoucnosti - Smart mobility Liberec. Metodologicky je práce založena na deskripci zvoleného prostředí, případových studiích a komparativní analýze. V rámci analýzy bylo zjištěno, že Liberec disponuje rozvinutou dopravní infrastrukturou, avšak s téměř minimálním počtem chytrých dopravních řešení. Zároveň bylo identifikováno, že jedním z hlavních problémů města je individuální automobilová doprava. Na základě zjištěných přínosů a rizik navrhovaného konceptu bylo vyhodnoceno, že by město Liberec mělo v budoucnu návrh zpracovat jako samostatný strategický dokument.

Abstract:

Currently, the problem associated with urbanization is deepening, and therefore it is necessary to find a solution to mitigate this negative phenomenon. One possibility is the Smart City, which significantly contributes to the sustainable development of cities. The main goal of the thesis is to propose a Smart City concept in the field of transportation for the city of Liberec. The theoretical part includes the characteristics of the Smart City concept in relation to transportation, its current trends, problems and challenges, along with financing options. The practical part is focused on the actual creation of the proposal, entitled Smart Road to the Future - Smart Mobility Liberec. Methodologically, the work is based on the description of the chosen environment, case studies and comparative analysis. As part of the analysis, it was found that Liberec has a developed transport infrastructure, but with an almost minimal number of smart transport solutions. At the same time, it was identified that one of the main problems of the city is individual car transport. Based on the identified benefits and risks of the proposed concept, it was evaluated that the city of Liberec should process the proposal as a separate strategic document in the future.
