Abstract:

Republikánská strana je jednou ze dvou hlavních politických stran v americkém politickém systému. V rámci Republikánské strany, která se mimo jiné také označuje jako GOP (Grand Old Party), však existuje několik významných frakcí. Strana se v průběhu let vyvíjela a přizpůsobovala společnosti, ekonomické situaci i globálním výzvám. Rozvíjela se zejména v klíčových obdobích, jako je progresivní éra, Reaganova éra a éra po studené válce. Každá fáze přinesla různé politické pozice a přispěla k identitě strany. Cílem mé práce je zkoumat různé frakce uvnitř Republikánské strany ve Spojených státech amerických během prezidenství Donalda Trumpa a osvětlit jejich odlišné ideologie, politické postoje a politické preference. Identifikuji a definuji jednotlivé frakce s ohledem na jejich historii i současnost. Prozkoumám konkrétní politické programy, které se spojují s každou frakcí. Poté se zaměřím na jejich vliv na primární volby a všeobecné volby a posoudím, jak frakce mobilizují voliče a přispívají k celkové volební strategii strany. V práci se zaměřím na rozbor vnitřních proudů v rámci Republikánské strany na federální úrovni ve Spojených státech amerických. Primárně se zaměřím na frakce, které byly v americkém Kongresu v letech 2017 až 2021, tedy období působení bývalého prezidenta Donalda Trumpa.

Abstract:

The Republican Party is one of the two major political parties in the American political system. However, there are several significant factions within the Republican Party, which also refers to itself as the GOP (Grand Old Party) among other things. Over the years, the party has evolved and adapted to society, the economic situation and global challenges. It was particularly developed during key periods such as the Progressive Era, the Reagan Era, and the post-Cold War era. Each phase brought different political positions and contributed to the party's identity. The aim of my work is to examine the various factions within the Republican Party in the United States of America during the presidency of Donald Trump and shed light on their different ideologies, political attitudes and policy preferences. I identify and define individual factions with respect to their history and present. I will explore the specific political agendas that align with each faction. I then focus on their influence on primaries and general elections and assess how factions mobilize voters and contribute to the party's overall electoral strategy. In my work, I will focus on the analysis of internal currents within the Republican Party at the federal level in the United States of America. I will primarily focus on factions that were in the US Congress from 2017 to 2021, i.e. the period of former President Donald Trump's tenure.
