Division and dual perception in Sunshine

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá neoformalistickou analýzou filmu Sunshine, jehož režisérem je Danny Boyle. První část analýzy popisuje ekonomický a kulturní kontext související s filmem. Obsahuje kapitoly o Danny Boyleovi, předprodukci, produkci, postprodukci a distribuci. Součástí jsou také sumarizace o tržbách a kritických ohlasech. Druhá a hlavní část práce se zaměřuje na styl a narativní formu. Většina analýzy vychází z knih Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové. Cílem práce je pak nalezení a definování principu dominanty. Analýza Sunshine odhalí, že dominantou filmu je rozdělenost a dvojí pohled.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is a neoformalist analysis of film Sunshine, directed by Danny Boyle. The first part of this analysis describes economic and cultural context of Sunshine. It consists of chapters about Danny Boyle himself, preproduction, production, postproduction and distribution. Also, box office and critical response sumarizations are included. Second and main part of this work focus on style and narative form. Most of the work is based on books by David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson. A goal of the analysis is to define principle called dominant of the film. In Sunshine, analysis revealed that dominant is division and dual perception.
