Didier van Cauwelaert: "Un aller simple", translation analysis and translation

Abstract:

Master's thesis deals with the issue of literary translation from French to Czech. The theoretical part examines the current knowledge of literary translation from both French to Czech and vice versa, as well as literary translation in the general sense of the word. In the practical part of the work, the already existing translation of the French novel UN aller simple by Didier van Cauwelaert, translated by Vladimír Binar, is compared with our translation. This comparison allows to observe different angles of view of the translation of the same work.

Abstract:

Magisterská práce se zabývá problematikou literárního překladu z francouzského do českého jazyka. Teoretická část zkoumá dosavadní poznatky o literárním překladu jak z francouzského do českého jazyka a naopak, ale i literárním překladem v obecném slova smyslu. V praktické části práce je srovnán již existující překlad francouzského románu Un aller simple od Didiera van Cauwelaerta přeložený Vladimírem Binarem s překladem naším. Toto srovnání umožňuje pozorovat rozdílné úhly pohledu na překlad stejného díla.
