Převážná část lidského genomu je tvořena sekvencemi, které jsou transkribovány jako nekódující RNA. Tyto molekuly nejsou překládány do podoby proteinů, ale plní v organismu regulační roli jako funkční RNA, které se účastní mnoha fyziologických i patologických dějů. The major part of the human genome is composed of sequences from which non-coding RNAs originate. These molecules are not translated into proteins, however, as functional RNA molecules, they participate in regulation under both physiological and pathological conditions.
