The impact of terrorism on security measures in civil aviation

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou terorismu a zkoumá problém zajištění bezpečnostních opatření v letecké dopravě před protiprávními činy. Cílem práce je na základě analýzy současných bezpečnostních opatření a zhodnocení dopadů teroristických útoků vytvořit optimalizační návrhy ke zvýšení bezpečnosti v letecké dopravě. V rámci diplomové práce k vytvoření přehledu o stavu poznání v oboru a o problematice terorismu v civilním letectví byla použita metoda literární rešerše. V praktické časti byly popsány klíčové útoky v letecké dopravě, pomocí analýzy a syntézy byl stanoven jejich dopad na bezpečnostní opatření. Byla provedena SWOT analýza ohledně používaných bezpečnostních opatření na Letišti Václava Havla Praha. Byly také provedeny řízené rozhovory s vybranými odborníky v oblasti bezpečnosti, kteří působí na letištích v Evropě a ve Spojených státech. Na základě analýzy současných bezpečnostních opatření a posouzení dopadů teroristických útoků byly vypracovány optimalizační návrhy na zlepšení bezpečnosti letecké dopravy.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of terrorism and examines the problem of ensuring security measures in civil aviation against terrorist acts. The aim of the thesis is to create optimization proposals to increase security in air transport based on the analysis of current security measures and evaluation of the impact of terrorist attacks. Within the framework of the thesis, the method of literature research was used to create an overview of the current state of knowledge in the industry related to the terrorism in civil aviation. In the practical part, the key attacks in civil aviation were described, and their impact on security measures was determined through analysis and synthesis. A SWOT analysis was performed regarding the security measures at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Structured interviews were also conducted with certain security experts working at airports in Europe and the United States. Based on the analysis of current security measures and an assessment of the impact of terrorist attacks, optimisation proposals for improving air transport security were developed.
