Emotional Aspects of Causal Attributions for Success and Failure of Primary School Pupils

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá úspěchem a neúspěchem žáků ve školní výkonové situaci. Zaměřuje se především na kauzální atribuce úspěchu a neúspěchu, emoce prožívané po úspěchu a neúspěchu a na souvislost kauzálních atribucí a emocí. V teoretické části práce jsou vysvětleny pojmy a teorie týkající se kauzálních atribucí ve výkonových situacích. Jsou zde uvedeny výzkumy realizované v této oblasti. Podrobněji je v teoretické části práce popsána Weinerova atribuční teorie motivace a emocí, ze které vychází výzkumná část. Cílem výzkumu bylo obohatit tuto teorii o jedinečné zkušenosti žáků s úspěchem a neúspěchem ve školní výkonové situaci. Výzkum je založen na kvalitativní metodologii. Celkem bylo provedeno deset rozhovorů se žáky ve věku 12 až 15 let. Rozhovory byly zaměřeny na kauzální atribuce, emoce a další souvislosti úspěchu a neúspěchu ve výkonové situaci (reakce sociálního okolí, motivace k dalšímu výkonu). Výsledky výzkumu potvrzují některá předchozí výzkumná zjištění a částečně také Weinerovu teorii.

Abstract:

This study deals with pupils' success and failure in performance situation at school. It focuses especially on causal attributions for success and failure, emotions experienced after success and failure and on relations of causal attributions and emotions. In theoretical part terms and theories related with causal attributions in performance situations are expained. Investigations realized in this field are introduced here. In theoretical part Weiners' attibutional theory of motivation and emotion is described in more detail. From this theory results the research. The aim of the research was to enrich this theory with pupils' unique experiences with success and failure in school performance situation. The research is based on qualitative metodology. Ten interviews with pupils in age from 12 to 15 were realized. The interviews were focused on causal attributions, emotions and other connections for success and failure (reations of social environment, motivation for future behaviour). The results of this reseach confirms some previous findings and partly also Weiners' theory.
