Prejudices against religious movements in the teeching of social sciences

Abstract:

The presented thesis represents a contribution to the issue of teaching of social sciences, where the science about religion is one of the content components of this subject. Because in discussion about modern civil education is not possible to overlook the multicultural perspective, on the issue of religion is here also looked from the principles of multicultural education, which has been included into teaching acording to governmental strategies in the area of education. The aim of the thesis is so to answer the main research question: 'How do the student's books work with prejudices against religious movements? ' An important fiding, which is based on the thematic analysis of the student's books, is the finding, that from the point of view of the work with prejudice there is possible to notice 2 contradictory tendencies in tne student's books . On the one hand the student's books present the issue of religion as a part of the culture and try to construct possitive attitudes toward various cultures and great religious traditions, so that they highlight the prejudices and their consequencies in a connection with these traditions. On the other hand the student's books do not reflect the other kind of prejudices what can be seen on the way how they present the issue of new religious movements. Part of an outcome of the thesis is a proposal of corrections which can be used in teaching of social science to help reflect and eliminate the social prejudices against new religious movements.

Abstract:

Predložená práca predstavuje príspevok k vyučovaniu základov spoločenských vied, pričom sa zameriava predovšetkým na vyučovanie témy o náboženstve. Pretože v diskusiách o modernom vyučovaní nemožno opomenúť multikultúrne hľadisko, na tému náboženstva je v práci nazerané práce z perspektívy princípov multikultúrnej výchovy, ktorá by na základe vládnych stratégií v oblasti vyučovania mala byť súčasťou vyučovania. Cieľom práce je zodpovedať otázku: „Akým spôsobom pracujú učebnice občianskeho a spoločenskovedného základu s predsudkami voči náboženským skupinám?“ Zistením práce, ktoré sa opiera o tematickú analýzu učebníc je, že z pohľadu práce s predsudkami v učebniciach súčasne existujú dve protichodné tendencie. Na jednej strane sa učebnice snažia náboženstvo prezentovať ako súčasť kultúry, s čím súvisí snaha a budovanie pozitívnych postojov k rôznym kultúram a veľkým náboženským tradíciám, takže predsudky k náboženstvu sú reflektované v spojitosti s týmito tradíciami. Na druhej strane však niektoré predsudky v učebniciach reflektované nie sú, č o sa prejavuje na spôsobe, akým je v učebniciach prezentovaná téma nových náboženských hnutí. Súčasťou práce je návrh korekcií, ktoré je možné využiť vo vyučovaní základov spoločenských vied s cieľom reflektovať a eliminovať spoločenské predsudky voči novým náboženským hnutiam.
