Intervention reducing the incidence of falls among elderly

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak ovlivní ošetřovatelské intervence se zaměřením na stimulaci smyslových orgánů a preventivní pohybové aktivity četnost pádů u seniorů hospitalizovaných v LDN Ostrava ? Radvanice. Metodika: Soubor byl tvořen respondenty ve věku 65 a více let z LDN, kteří během hospitalizace utrpěli pád. Průzkumné šetření probíhalo v červenci, srpnu a v září 2010. Zjištěná data z Protokolů o mimořádné události z tohoto období byla retrospektivní analýzou porovnána se zjištěnými daty za období leden, únor, březen 2010 a za období leden, únor, březen 2009. V průběhu průzkumu bylo prováděno přímé pozorování ošetřujících, jak aplikují ošetřovatelské intervence ke snížení incidence pádů a jak smyslově stimulují a pohybově podporují seniory. Byly s ošetřujícími vedeny individuální rozhovory při zjišťování okolností, jak k pádu došlo a jaké byly provedeny opatření k prevenci pádů. Výsledky: Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že v době, kdy probíhal průzkum, došlo k poklesu incidence pádů hospitalizovaných seniorů, kteří byli smyslově stimulování a pohybově podporováni. V době průzkumu došlo u seniorů, kteří byli pohybově podporování kinestetikou, k menšímu výskytu četnosti lehkých zranění následkem pádů, ale zvýšil se výskyt četnosti těžkých zranění. Důvodem je i vyšší průměrný věk respondentů v tomto sledovaném období a jejich horší zdravotní a funkční stav. Závěr: Cílem každého zdravotnického zařízení má být zajištění bezpečného prostředí pro seniory. Ošetřující mají poskytovat takové ošetřovatelské intervence, které vedou k prevenci pádů seniorů, které současně seniory stimulují a motivují k pohybu a podporují jejich autonomii.

Abstract:

Goal: This text is focused on the influence of nurse intervention, centred on the stimulation of sensory organs and preventive motion activity, over the quantity of falls of seniors hospitalized in medical institution LDN Ostrava ? Radvanice. Methodology: The ensemble was formed by respondents of age 65 years and more from LDN who suffered the fall during their hospitalisation. The research investigation was performed in July, August and September 2010. The found data based on Protocols of extraordinary accidents from this period were compared to found data from the period of January, February and March 2010 and January, February and March 2009, by the retrospective analysis. The direct monitoring of nurse care was performed, how the nurse intervention was applied in order to prevent the fall incidences and how the senses and motion of seniors are stimulated. The individual interviews with nurses were realized and circumstances of fall were discussed as well as preventive actions to avoid such falls. Results: The investigation has shown that the number of fall incidence of hospitalised seniors has decreased thanks to the sense and motion stimulation. During the research the occurrence of light injuries caused by fall decreased but the the occurrence of hard injuries increased, in case of seniors who were supported by the motion kinaesthetics. The high age of respondents and their worse health and function condition were the causes for it. Conclusion: Every medical institution shall be focused on the safe environment for seniors. The nursing personnel shall provide such nurse intervention to prevent the fall of any senior, to stimulate and motivate the seniors and support their autonomy.
