Statistical analysis of unemployment in Vietnam and the COVID-19 impact on its labor market

Abstract:

The Bachelor Thesis examines the growth of Vietnam's unemployment rate over time. The Literature Review section of the thesis is a compilation of information regarding the definition, classification, and causes of unemployment in Vietnam. The practical section focuses on how unemployment in Vietnam by categories has developed over time from 2010 to 2020 and during the epidemic. Additionally, Linear Regression analysis was applied to investigate the relationship between the quarterly unemployment rate at working age in Vietnam and the number of quarterly new COVID-19 cases from 2018 to 2021. The findings of the thesis demonstrated that the number of quarterly COVID-19 new cases was statistically significant and contributed to the increment in the unemployment rate during the pandemic in Vietnam.
