Geographic aspects of rightful trade within coffee business

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na kávu a obchod s touto komoditou. V práci jsou popsány podmínky a ovlivnitelnost růstu kávovníků, kvalita plodů, ale i nemoci, metody sběru a způsoby zpracování. Konkrétně jsou zmíněny dva nejznámějšími druhy, Arabika a Robusta, a jejich odrůdy. Káva je zde také rozdělena na výběrovou a komoditní. Stěžejní oblastí práce je export kávy a produkční oblasti. U vybraných zemí a vývozců káv je uvedená obrazová příloha a mapy k lepšímu pochopení dané problematiky. Poslední část se věnuje mezinárodnímu obchodu, certifikacím a dvěma nejčastějším způsobům obchodování s kávou, tj. FairTrade a Direct Trade.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on coffee and trade in this commodity. The paper describes not only the conditions and influence of coffee tree growth, fruit quality, but also diseases, collection methods and processing methods. Specifically, the two most famous species, Arabica and Robusta, and their varieties are mentioned. Coffee is also divided into specialty and commodity. The main part of this work discusses the export of coffee and production areas. For chosen countries and coffee exporters, a pictorial appendix and maps are provided to understand the issue better. The last part of the thesis deals with international trade, certifications and the two most common means of trading coffee, i.e. Fair Trade and Direct Trade.
