Joann Sfar: The Rabbi´s Cat, commented translation of a French comic book

Abstract:

This presented bachelor thesis deals with the commented language translation of a comic book from French to Czech. The initial text is the third volume of the well-known graphic novel The Rabbi´s Cat, written by Joann Sfar, a contemporary French writer, comic book artist and film director. The bachelor thesis is divided into four main parts. In the first part, the author Joann Sfar and his work The Rabbi´s Cat is presented. The second part consists of an introduction to the theory of translation, a description of basic translation procedures and the main issues of translation from French into Czech, all of which include general ex-amples. The following part shows our own translation of the third volume of the stated comics. The fourth part is composed of a comment of the translation.

Abstract:

Le présent mémoire de licence traite de la traduction commentée de la bande dessinée du français vers la langue tch?que. Le texte initial est le troisi?me tome du fameux roman graphique Le Chat du Rabbin, écrit par Joann Sfar, écrivain français contemporain, auteur de la bande dessinée et réalisateur des films. Le mémoire de licence est divisé en quatre parties principales. Dans la premi?re partie, nous présentons l'auteur Joann Sfar et son ?uvre Le Chat du Rabbin. La deuxi?me partie consiste en une introduction ? la théorie de la traduction, en une description des procédés de traduction de base, en une problématique de la traduction de la langue française en langue tch?que, le tout complété par des exemples généraux. Suit la propre traduction du troisi?me tome de la bande dessinée mentionnée. La quatri?me partie se compose du commentaire de la traduction.
