Impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on Airbnb

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the global impact of the Covid19 on the Airbnb software. Based on a statistical analysis of the worldwide Airbnb data, it was revealed that during the epidemic, the bookings of the travel software dipped significantly, especially during the most severe periods of the epidemic. This downward trend was reflected in different regions, especially in Europe, Asia and North America. According to further analysis, consumers preferred self-catering properties during the epidemic. This suggests that consumers are more focused on flexibility and security during the epidemic. Therefore, it is recommended that sharing economy platforms enhance the provision of flexibility, for example by stipulating more lenient check-out policies to meet consumer demand. In addition, platforms should also strengthen security in areas such as hygiene and cleanliness to enhance consumers' sense of security. This paper analyzes the global situation of the epidemic on Airbnb software and proposes corresponding solutions. The findings are instructive for sharing economy platforms and other industries in dealing with similar crises.
