Macroporous copper electrodes in electroanalysis of organic compounds

Abstract:

In this thesis, an effect of different pore diameter in a porous structure of copper film screen-printed carbon electrodes and its potential influence on the sensitivity of amperometric detection of carbohydrates was studied. These electrodes were constructed using colloidal crystal templating with various sizes of polystyrene spheres. It was found that larger diameters may positively affect the sensitivity of measurement since a target molecule can be easily adsorbed from analyzed solution into the porous structure of working electrode and thus an adequate current response is provided. Furthermore, an electrochemical detection of amino acids and dihydroxybenzenes was studied using prepared copper porous electrodes and obtained calibration data were compared with a non-porous ex situ copper film electrode. Also here, an advantage of enlarged surface area of porous electrode was observed.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o studiu vlivu průměru pórů v porézní struktuře filmu mědi, připraveného na uhlíkové tištěné elektrodě, na citlivost amperometrické detekce sacharidů. Byly zhotoveny tištěné měděné porézní elektrody vzorování koloidních krystalů z polystyrenových částic o různých průměrech. Bylo zjištěno, že větší průměr pórů vykazuje lepší proudovou odezvu díky lepší schopnosti zachytit požadovanou molekulu z analyzovaného vzorku. Dále byly porovnány elektrochemické záznamy vybraných zástupců aminokyselin a dihydroxybenzenů při použití porézních a filmových eletrod. Také zde se projevila výhoda porézních elektrod, hlavně při měření velmi nízkých koncentrací těchto látek.
