Rod Eubalaena, tzv. pravé velryby, zahrnuje tři druhy, přičemž jedním z nich je Eubalaena australis, pravá jižní velryba. V této práci je tento druh představen z taxonomického hlediska a jsou zde uvedeny základní charakteristiky druhu a možnosti identifikace jednotlivých zvířat. Genus Eubalaena, right whales, involved three species and one of them is Eubalaena australis, southern right whale. In this work is this species introduced in taxonomical aspect and the basic characteristic and the possibilities of identification are listed.
