The Greek Emigration in the Jeseníky Area

Abstract:

Diplomová práce mapuje příčiny a okolnosti příchodu řecké politické emigrace do tehdejšího Československa, jmenovitě na Jesenicko, po druhé světové válce, včetně průběhu a důsledků řecké občanské války. Sleduje problematiku z hlediska mezinárodně – politické situace na prahu studené války a z hlediska vnitropolitického vývoje Československa. Zabývá se především počátečním obdobím a konsolidací této etnické skupiny na Jesenicku a snaží se postihnout všechny stránky života řeckých emigrantů v období, kdy byl jesenický okres centrem celé řecké komunity v Československu.

Abstract:

The Thesis maps the causes and circumstances of arrival of the Greek political refugees to the former Czechoslovakia, in particular to the Jeseniky area after Second World War, including a description of the process and consequences of the Greek civil war. The work looks at this issue from the point of view of the international and political situation on the edge of the Cold war and also from the inter-political development of Czechoslovakia point of view. It focuses on the initial period and on the consolidation of this ethnic group in the Jeseniky area and attempts to cover all sides of life of the Greek refugees during the times when the Jesenik district was the centre of the whole Greek community in Czechoslovakia.
