Adverbs Formed by the Suffix –ment, their Function in the Sentence and their Czech Equivalents

Abstract:

This thesis entitled Les adverbes en –ment, leur fonction syntaxique et leurs équivalents tchèques treats Czech equivalents of french adverbs formed by the suffix –ment, and this according to their function in the sentence. It next deals with the means used to translate the most frequent Czech equivalents of these adverbs back into French. The research was carried out on the basis of 14 french books by French authors and their Czech translations and 7 Czech novels translated into French. Except of 3 French novels and their translations all of the books and their translations are included in the parallel corpora InterCorp. In the theoretical part we tried to describe adverbs, or the adverbs formed by the suffix –ment, in general terms and to define briefly the parallel corpora InterCorp. The practical part is composed by 15 chapters consecrated to 15 most common adverbs formed by the suffix –ment. In these chapters we present and comment the results. The thesis is complemented with an annexe in which we can find the summary of the Czech and French equivalents classified according to their frequency. The Czech equivalents are classified also according to the syntactical function of the incident French adverb.

Abstract:

Tato práce nazvaná Les adverbes en –ment, leur fonction syntaxique et leurs équivalents tchèques pojednává o českých ekvivalentech francouzských příslovcí tvořených příponou –ment, a to v závislosti na jejich syntaktické funkci ve větě. Dále se zabývá prostředky, jakými jsou nejčastěji zjištěné české ekvivalenty těchto adverbií znovu převáděny do francouzštiny. Výzkum překladů byl prováděn jednak ve 14 francouzských knihách od francouzských autorů a jejích českých překladech, jednak v 7 českých románech přeložených do francouzštiny. Kromě 3 francouzských románů a jejich překladů jsou všechny knihy a jejich překlady součástí jazykového paralelního korpusu InterCorp. V teoretické části jsme se pokusili obecně popsat příslovce, respektive příslovce tvořená příponou –ment a stručně definovat jazykový paralerní korpus InterCorp. Praktická část je tvořena 15 kapitolami věnovanými 15 nejčastějším příslovcím tvořeným příponou –ment, ve kterých prezentujeme a komentujeme samotné výsledky. Práce je doplněna přílohou, kde lze nalézt seznam získaných českých a francouzských ekvivalentů tříděných podle jejich frekvence. České ekvivalenty jsou tříděny i podle syntaktické funkce příslušného francouzského adverbia.
