Empirical comparison of time series modeling methods

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se budeme zabývat některými metodami pro předpověď časových řad. Konkrétně se budeme zabývat metodou Ensemble založený na fuzzy pravidlech (FRBE) a individuálními metodami SARIMA, Théta, Exponenciální vyrovnávání a Náhodná procházka. Tyto individuální metody byly vybrány z důvodu, že vážený průměr jejich předpovědí tvoří předpověď metody FRBE. Cílem této práce je empiricky porovnat metodu FRBE a individuální metody a také porovnat metodu FRBE a aritmetický průměr individuálních metod. Empirické porovnání probíhá na datech ze soutěže M-Competition v jazyku R. První tři kapitoly obsahují teoretickou část. V první kapitole této práce si stručně vysvětlíme pojem časová řada, její analýzu a některé možné problémy při práci s časovou řadou. V druhé kapitole jsou popsány individuální metody a třetí kapitola popisuje metodu FRBE. Ve čtvrté a páté kapitole nalezneme praktickou část práce. Ve čtvrté kapitole jsou popsány data, na které se jednotlivé metody aplikují a také je zde popsán průběh jejich analýzy. V poslední kapitole dochází k popisu získaných výsledků a k jejich stručné analýze.

Abstract:

In this bachelor thesis we will deal with some methods for forecasting time series. In particular, we will deal with the Fuzzy rules based ensemble (FRBE) method and individual methods SARIMA, Theta, Exponential smoothing, Random walk. These individual methods were chosen because the weighted average of their predictions is the prediction of the FRBE method. The aim of this work is to empirically compare the FRBE method and the individual methods, as well as to compare the FRBE method and the arithmetic mean of individual methods. Empirical comparison takes place on data from the M-Competition in R language. The first three chapters consists of the theoretical part of the thesis. In the first chapter of this thesis we briefly explain the term time series, its analysis and some possible problems in working with the time series. In the second part the individual methods are described and the third chapter describes the FRBE method. In the fourth and fifth chapters we find the practical part of the thesis. The fourth chapter describes the data on which the individual methods are applied and the course of their analysis is described here. The last chapter describes the results obtained and briefly analyses them.
