Financing of Franchise-systém by virtue of venture capital

Abstract:

Anotace Cílem mé diplomové práce je zjistit, zda lze financovat franchising z rizikového a rozvojového kapitálu a jestli je to v českých podmínkách vůbec reálné. Snažím se poukázat na hlavní problémové oblasti financování franchisy obecně, a zhodnotit možnosti využití rizikového a rozvojového kapitálu, jako nepříliš běžného zdroje financování podniku. Diplomová práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. V teoretické části jsem představila franchising jako jeden ze systémů distribuce, nastínila jsem jeho historii, charakterizovala jsem jeho podstatu a cíle, popsala výhody a nevýhody pro zúčastněné strany. Dále jsem se zabývala základními znaky rizikového a rozvojového kapitálu, popsala jeho typy, strukturu a subjekty, které se na tomto druhu investice podílejí. V aplikační části své práce představuji Panerii – pekařství společnosti EURECA SHOPS s.r.o., jejíž systém je z velké části provozován na bázi franchisingu. Porovnávám konkrétní informace s teoretickými poznatky z teoretické části své diplomové práce. Dále se snažím vysvětlit, jak fungují fondy rizikového a rozvojového kapitálu v praxi, zabývám se problémy s financováním franchisingu v České republice. Na závěr jsem se pokusila předvést na praktickém příkladě, jak lze financovat franchising z rizikového a rozvojového kapitálu a hodnotím, jestli je tento způsob financování pro české podnikatele vhodný a dosažitelný.

Abstract:

Annotation The aim of my thesis was to investigate whether it is possible to fund franchise from venture capital, and whether this is real under Czech conditions at all. I tried to stress the main problem areas of franchise funding, and to evaluate the options of venture capital use as not very common source of company funding. My thesis has been divided into two parts. In its theoretical part, I presented franchise as one of distribution systems, I mentioned its history, characterized its essence and targets, described its advantages and disadvantages for the parties involved. Further, I pursued basic features of venture capital, described its types, structures and subjects that participate in this kind of investment. In the application portion of my thesis, I presented Paneria – the bakery of EURECA SHOPS s.r.o. the system of which is largelly based on franchising. I have compared specific information with the theoretical knowledge contained in the theoretical portion of my thesis. Further, I tried to explain how the funds of venture capital work in practice, and I pursued the problems of franchise funding in the Czech Republic. In the conclusion I tried to demonstrate a practical example of how to fund franchise from venture capital, and assessed whether this way of funding is suitable and achievable for Czech entrepreneurs.
