Ostrihom and Szekesfehervar. Two centres of the early medieval Hungarian kingdom

Abstract:

Téma diplomovej práce sa pomocou dostupných prameňov a literatúry zameriava na procesy a príčiny, prečo v ranostredovekom Uhorsku získali Ostrihom a Stoličný Belehrad (Székesfehérvár) také významné postavenie v rámci chápania moci a jej stratifikácie v kráľovstve. Práca v prvej časti využíva paralely medzi udalosťami predchádzajúcimi vzniku arcibiskupstva v Ostrihome a v Gniezne a snaží sa odpovedať na otázku možného translatio sedis z Nitry. V druhej časti zase sleduje vplyv Aachenu a chápania jeho postavenia a prenos tohto vzoru na Stoličný Belehrad.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals mainly with processes and reasons, which led to the special position of Esztergom and Székesfehérvár withim the frame of early medieval Hungary. This thesis operates with parallels between the situation in Hungary and in Poland in the first part. This parallel helps to better understanding of the formation of the archbishopric of Esztergom. In the second part, this thesis deals with the parallel between Székesfehérvár and Aachen. The main point of this part is using Aachen and his position within do Holy empire as an example for Székesfehérvár as a place for coronation of a new hungarian king.
