Aesthetics of analog photography in the postdigital era

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na současný trend estetiky analogové fotografie v postdigitální éře. Už v minulosti se mluvilo o fotografii jako o jednom z největších vynálezů všech dob a také se stala předchůdcem nových médií. Práce se snaží přiblížit vznik nostalgického trendu a zabývá se otázkou, proč lidé upouštějí od masového fotografování a dávají přednost kinofilmu a klasické fotografii. Součástí práce je i rozbor polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s významnou firmou Polagraph, který nastiňuje současnou situaci z jejich pohledu. Cílem práce je přiblížit analogovou fotografii jako současný fenomén, který je čím dál tím víc populárnější a prozkoumat, zda focení na film v budoucnosti úplně nezastíní digitální médium. V neposlední řadě také odhalit příčinu toho, proč se mladí lidé věnují filmové fotografii a co napomohlo návratu analogu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the current trend in the aesthetics of analog photography in the post-digital era. Photography has been talked about as one of the greatest inventions of all time in the past and has also become a forerunner of new media. The work tries to approach the emergence of a nostalgic trend and deals with the question of why people abandon mass photography and prefer cinema and classic photography. Part of the work is also an analysis of a semi-structured interview with a major company Polagraph, which outlines the current situation from their perspective. The aim of this work is to approach analog photography as a current phenomenon, which is becoming more and more popular, and to explore whether shooting on film in the future will not completely overshadow the digital medium. Last but not least, to reveal the reason why young people are involved in film photography and what helped the return of analogue.
