Development of Czech Orientalistics with Special Focus on Arabic and Islamic Studies
Abstract:
Cílem mé práce je představit vznik a vývoj české arabistiky a islamologie. Po analýze českých literárních památek, které se určitým způsobem vyrovnávají s islámským fenoménem blíže specifikuji podněty, které vedly ke vzniku oboru na tehdejší pražské univerzitě. V historicko-politickém kontextu pak zmapuji a interpretuji směry a výsledky bádání českých arabistů a islamologů.

The aim of my work is to express the development of Czech and Arabic and Islamic studies. By analyzing Czech written documents I characterize views on muslim society which it contains. After that I closely specify the impuls that led to the establishment of branches at the Charles University.
