Comparative analysis of activity-related stress and “index of care” on coeval urban population and countryside population

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje komparativní analýze stresu spojeného s činnostmi založené na porovnání městské (lokalita Brno – ulice Vídeňská) a dvou venkovských populací (lokality Horní Heršpice a Dětkovice) ze stejného historického období, mladší doby hradištní. Jejím cílem bylo najít rozdíly nebo případné podobnosti mezi těmito populacemi a zároveň zdokumentovat stres spojený s činností a možnou poskytovanou péčí pomocí "Index of Care". Při komparativní analýze byly využity tři metody (hodnocení entéz a entezopatií, geometrie průřezu s měřeními a indexy a průřezové proměnné z CT skenovaní). Metody vyhodnotily, že se městské a venkovské populace mezi sebou liší. Rozdíly byly v měřeních a indexech pomocí Kruskal-Wallisovy metody a průřezových proměnných pomocí PCA analýzy. Hodnocení úponů neukázalo téměř žádný rozdíl mezi lokalitami, pouze rozvoj entézy m. soleus levé tibie vykazoval významný rozdíl mezi lokalitou Brno – Vídeňská ulice a lokalitou Horní Heršpice. Bodování entezopatií vedlo k výsledku, že nejvíce entezopatií se vyskytovalo v lokalitě Brno – ulice Vídeňská, dále v lokalitě Dětkovice a nejméně entezopatií bylo zjištěno v lokalitě Horní Heršpice. "Index of Care" nebyl využit na vyhledání rozdílů mezi populacemi. Práce se tedy věnovala patologiím pozorovaných na vyšetřovaných jedincích spojenými s činností a tyto patologie nevyžadovaly žádnou specifickou péči.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the comparative analysis of activity-related stress on coeval urban (the site at Brno – Vídeňská street) and two countryside populations (the site at Horní Heršpice and Dětkovice) from the Late Hillfort Period. This thesis aimed to find differences or possible similarities in the activity-related stress between these populations and at the same time to document activity-related stress and potential provided care with the use of the “Index of Care”. For the comparative analysis of activity-related stress, three methods (scoring of entheses and enthesopathies, cross-sectional geometry with measurements and indices, and cross-sectional variables from CT scanning) were used. These methods recognised that the urban and the countryside populations do differentiate between each other. Differences were found in measurements and indices using Kruskal-Wallis's method and cross-sectional variables using PCA analysis. The scoring of entheses showed almost no difference between the sites, with only m. soleus enthesis of the left tibia showing a significant difference between the site at Brno – Vídeňská Street and the site at Horní Heršpice. The scoring of enthesopathies led to the result, that the most enthesopathies occurred on the site at Brno – Vídeňská street, then the site at Dětkovice and the lowest number of enthesopathies was on the site at Horní Heršpice. The “Index of Care” was not applied to find differences between the populations. The thesis focused on the activity-related pathologies detected in the individuals and no pathologies were found which require any special care.
