Regional analysis of enterprises participating in the 7th EU Framework Programme

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rámcovými programy EU, jako hlavním nástrojem na podporu výzkumu, vývoje a inovací. Konkrétně se zaměřuje na 7. rámcový program. Cílem práce je provést analýzu a následně zhodnotit aktivitu ČR a českých podniků s důrazem na malé a střední podniky v 7. rámcovém programu. Srovnání je provedeno na nadnárodní úrovni s ostatními státy EU i na regionální úrovni. První část práce je zaměřena na teorii konkurenceschopnosti s důrazem na výzkum, vývoj a inovace jako její důležitou součást. Je vysvětlen důvod vzniku rámcových programů a je uveden jejich stručný přehled a vztah ke strategiím EU. Dále je popsána struktura specifických programů a způsob předkládání návrhů projektů. Na tuto část navazuje samotná analýza účasti ČR a českých podniků. Z analýzy vyplývá že ČR v účasti na 7. rámcovém programu sice zaostávala za průměrem starých členských států, ale naopak si vedla dobře v porovnání s novými členskými státy.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the EU framework programs as the main tool for support of research, development and innovation. In particular, the thesis focuses on FP7. The aim of the thesis is to analyse and subsequently evaluate the participation of the Czech Republic and Czech companies with an emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises in the 7th Framework Program. The comparison is carried out at the multinational level with other EU countries and at regional level as well. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theory of competitiveness with emphasis on research, development and innovation as an important part of it. The reasons behind the framework programs are explained and are given their brief overview and relation to EU strategies. Additionally, there is introduced the structure of specific programs and the way of submitting project proposals. This part is followed by the analysis of the participation of the Czch Republic and Czech companies. The analysis displays that the Czech Republic lagged behind the average of the old Member States in its participation in the FP7, but on the contrary it did well compared to the new Member States.
