Status and causes of overweight and obesity in preschool children in Ústí nad Labem

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá stavem nadváhy a obezity a vztahem mezi životním stylem a tělesným složením u dětí předškolního věku z mateřských škol v Ústí nad Labem. Data byla získána formou anonymní ankety rodičů předškolních dětí. Celkem bylo získáno 255 odpovědí a informace o životním stylu a tělesném složení, z toho 125 byly dívky a 130 chlapci ve věku od 2 do 7 let. Analýzou výsledků jsme zjistili, že se v našem výzkumném souboru vyskytuje 5,5 % dětí s nadváhou a 4,7 % dětí s obezitou. Dále bylo zjištěno, že chlapci trpí nadváhou i obezitou více než dívky. Byl zaznamenán významný vztah mezi nejvyšším dosaženým vzděláním rodičů a výskytem nadváhy nebo obezity u jejich dětí. Celkem 46,2 % dětí s nadváhou nebo obezitou překračují doporučenou denní dobu strávenou u obrazovky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the state of overweight and obesity and the relationship between lifestyle and body composition in preschool children from kindergartens in Ústí nad Labem. The data was obtained in the form of an anonymous survey of parents of preschool children. A total of 255 responses and information on lifestyle and body composition were obtained, of which 125 were girls and 130 were boys aged 2 to7 years. Analyzing the results, we found that 5.5 % of children were overweight and 4.7 % were obese in our research group. Furthermore, it was found that boys suffer from overweight and obesity more than girls. A significant relationship was noted between parents' highest educational attainment and the prevalence of overweight or obesity in their children. 46.2 % of overweight or obese children exceed the recommended daily screen time.
