Geography of food industry in Czechia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se bude zabývat hlavními změnami prostorového rozmístění potravinářského průmyslu v Česku v rozmezí let 1987, 2009 a 2014. Práce bude rozdělena dohromady do tří kapitol. První kapitola bude tvořit teoretickou část práce. Druhá kapitola se bude zaobírat popisem dat a metod, které budou použity v následné empirické části. Poslední kapitolu tedy tvoří empirická část práce. V rámci teorie se věnuji charakteristice jak zpracovatelského, tak potravinářského průmyslu. Také se zaměřuji na lokalizační faktory průmyslu a jejich dělení nebo otázku relativní a absolutní specializace. Dále se v rámci charakteristiky potravinářského průmyslu zabývám inovačními strategiemi low-medium-tech odvětví, do kterého sledovaný průmysl spadá a v neposlední řadě se věnuji i geografické koncentraci s ohledem na výkonnost podniků. V empirii se budu zabývat hlavními změnami v rozmístění potravinářského průmyslu v Česku v letech 1987, 2009 a 2014. Změny budou interpretovány ve dvou úrovních, tedy z hlediska relativní a absolutní specializace. Potřebná data budou pocházet z Českého statistického úřadu. Součástí empirické části bude případová studie, kde budu pozornost věnovat popisu vývoje dvou vybraných v současnosti významných českých potravinářských podniků, které na našem území působí dlouhodobě.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis will deal with the main changes in the spatial distribution of the food industry in the Czech Republic between 1987, 2009 and 2014. The work will be divided into three chapters. The first chapter will form a theoretical part of the work. The second chapter will deal with the description of data and methods that will be used in the subsequent empirical part. The last chapter therefore forms the empirical part of the work. Within the theory, I deal with the characteristics of both the processing and food industries. I also focus on the localization factors of industry and their division or the question of relative and absolute specialization. Furthermore, within the characteristics of the food industry, I deal with innovative strategies of the low-medium-tech sector, to which the monitored industry belongs, and last but not least, I focus on geographical concentration with regard to the performance of companies. In the empirical case I will deal with the main changes in the distribution of the food industry in the Czech Republic in 1987, 2009 and 2014. The changes will be interpreted in two levels, in terms of relative and absolute specialization. The necessary data will come from the Czech Statistical Office. One component of the empirical part will be a case study, where I will pay attention to the description of the development of two selected currently important Czech food companies, which have been operating in our territory for a long time.
