The Importance of Reward and Punishment in Contemporary Education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o významu trestu v současné výchově v historickém kontextu. Nad touto problematikou se zamýšlí nejen v obecném pojetí, ale i z pohledu křesťanství, které víc jak tisíc let tvořilo na našem území základní východisko pro výchovu a společenské klima. Na základě několika osobností je sledován pozitivní dopad křesťanské výchovy na celou společnost, stejně jako silná agresivita v dospělosti u týraných jedinců v dětství. Diplomová práce se také zamýšlí nad významem tělesných trestů ve výchově, jeho negativními následky i jeho zákazem užívání. Všechny tyto otázky sleduje v teoretickém i praktickém rámci, který vychází z výzkumného šetření napříč současnou společností.

Abstract:

The thesis discourses the significance of punishment in contemporary upbringing process in context of history. The thesis considers the topic not only in the common approach but also from the point of view of Christianity which was used as the basic recourse for the upbringing and the social climate in our territory. A positive impact of Christian upbringing on the whole society is observed on the basis of several personalities as same as the impact of strong rage in the adult age performed by the individuals who were maltreated in their childhood on the other side. The thesis also considers the meaning of corporal punishment pedagogy, its negative consequences and the restriction of it. All those questions are focused on in theoretical and practical structure which comes out of a research that was made crosswise the contemporary society.
