Abstract:
The thesis entitled Abbreviations and Acronyms in the ESL Texts examines the occurrence of abbreviations and acronyms in language learning texts for children. Three textbooks for students in the seventh, the eighth, and the ninth grade were chosen as a research sample. Bakalářská práce Zkratková slova v textech pro výuku angličtiny mapuje výskyt zkratkových slov a akronymů ve třech učebnicích angličtiny, určených pro žáky sedmé, osmé a deváté třídy. Praktická část je tvořena sběrem dat ze tří učebnic angličtiny určených pro sedmou, osmou a devátou třídu základní školy. V těchto učebnicích byly vyhledány akronymy a zkratková slova.
