Energy Management of Measuring Stations with ESP32 Chip

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou energetického managementu měřicích stanic postavených na čipu ESP32. Hlavním cílem této práce je návrh systému řízení energie pro zefektivnění chodu stanice na bateriový chod a prodloužení její výdrže. Součástí práce je analýza již existujících obhájených prací a odborných publikací na podobné téma. Po analýze je proveden soupis požadavků na hardware a software měřicí stanice. Při návrhu stanice je kladen důraz zejména na jednoduchost, optimální cenu a dostupnost použitých součástek s využitím open-source řešení. Součástí je i návrh takového systému, který efektivně využívá bateriový zdroj a s tím související přenos dat se synchronizací času. Na základě předem stanovených požadavků je vybrán hardware a sestaven prototyp měřící stanice na nepájivém poli včetně softwaru pro obsluhu stanice. Stanice s navrženým energetickým systémem je ve finále otestována s ohledem na výdrž přes bateriový chod.

Abstract:

This paper deals with the issue of energy management of measuring stations based on ESP32 chip. The main objective of this work is to design an energy management system to improve the efficiency of the station's battery operation and extend its lifetime. The work includes analysis of existing papers and scientific publications on a similar topic. Upon this analysis, an inventory of the hardware and software requirements of the measuring station has been developed. An emphasis is placed on simplicity, optimal cost and availability of the components used, using open-source solutions. This also includes a design of a system that makes the use of battery power efficient which is associated with data transfer along with time synchronization. Based on the predetermined requirements, hardware is selected, and a prototype of the measuring station is built on a breadboard, including software to operate the station. The station with the designed power system is finally tested with respect to endurance over battery operation.
