Functional disorders and symptoms of phantom limb. Observations and treatment.

Abstract:

In this paper we want to expose the possible implications that phantom limb syndrome can have on a diabetic subject with trans-femoral amputation of the middle third of the femur. After a brief introduction to the subject with anatomy and the most up-to-date scientific explanations on the subject, we will pass on to the patient A.N. suffering from phantom limb syndrome following amputation of the left lower limb due to gangrene from arterial insufficiency due to diabetes. The treatment immediately focused on the tamponade of phantom limb pain with the use of the widely used but poorly validated Mirror Therapy exercise at the level of international literature.

Abstract:

In questo elaborato si vuole esporre le possibili implicazioni che la sindrome da arto fantasma pu? avere su un soggetto diabetico con amputazione trans-femorale del terzo medio del femore. Dopo una breve introduzione alla materia con anatomia e spiegazioni scientifiche pi? aggiornate sulla materia trattata, si passer? all'esposizione del paziente A.N. affetto da sindrome da arto fantasma a seguito dell'amputazione dell'arto inferiore sinistro per gangrena da insufficienza arteriosa data dal diabete. Il trattamento si ? subito incentrato sul tamponamento del dolore dell'arto fantasma con l'uso dell'esercizio Mirror Therapy ampiamente usato ma mediocremente validato a livello di letteratura internazionale.
