Deinstitutionalization of Child Care in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou deinstitucionalizace ústavní péče o děti v České republice. Cílem práce je porovnat ústavní a pěstounskou péči z pohledu osob, které jako ohrožené děti absolvovaly obě tyto formy náhradní výchovy. Prostřednictvím kvalitativního výzkumného šetření, metodou hloubkového rozhovoru, polo strukturovaného typu bylo odhaleno několik klíčových oblastí, jako například psychická deprivace, sociálně patologické jevy nebo teorie citové vazby. Všechny tyto oblasti jsou v práci podrobně analyzovány a zasazeny do kontextu deinstitucionalizace. Práce poskytuje reflexi legislativních změn, vzniklých v rámci transformace péče o ohrožené děti a poskytuje možnost, nahlédnout na problematiku náhradní péče očima těch, kteří jako děti nemohli vyrůstat ve funkčním rodinném prostředí své biologické rodiny.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the deinstitutionalization of residential care for children in the Czech Republic. The aim of the study is to compare institutional and foster care from the perspective of people who have, as children, gone through both of these forms of substitutive education. Through qualitative research, using the method of in-depth interview of the semi-structured type, several key areas were revealed, such as psychological deprivation, socio-pathological phenomena or the attachment theory. All these areas are analyzed in detail in the thesis and put into the context of deinstitutionalization. The thesis provides a reflection of legislative changes, resulting in the transformation of care for vulnerable children and provides the opportunity to look at the issue of foster care through the eyes of those, who as children could not grow up in the functional family environment of their biological families.
