Czech-Japanese cultural standards in the work environment

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce na téma Česko-Japonské kulturní standardy v pracovním prostředí se soustředí na výzkum kulturních rozdílů a mezikulturních interakcí mezi Čechy a Japonci v pracovním kontextu. Tato práce je rozdělena na dvě kapitoly, je vytvořena na základě komparace primárních a sekundárních dat s cílem identifikovat Japonské kulturní standardy z perspektivy Čechů. První část této práce obsahuje obecný přehled o kultuře, nejvyužívanějších modelů popisu národní kultury podle Hofstedeho, Trompenaarse a projektu GLOBE a základní informace o obou analyzovaných zemích. Druhá část se zaměřuje na sběr kvalitativních primárních dat, jejich analýzu a komparaci s daty sekundárními podle metody kulturních standardů Thomase. Součástí této kapitoly je také formulace doporučení pro Čechy v současném nebo budoucím pracovním kontaktu s Japonci za účelem zlepšení kvality mezikulturních vztahů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of Czech-Japanese cultural standards in the work environment and explores cultural differences and intercultural interactions between Czechs and Japanese in the work context. Divided into two chapters, this thesis is developed by comparing primary and secondary data in order to identify Japanese cultural standards from the perspective of Czechs. The first part of this thesis contains a general overview of culture, the most used models for describing national culture according to Hofstede, Trompenaars, and the GLOBE project, and background information about the two countries analyzed. The second part focuses on the collection of qualitative primary data, its analysis, and comparison with secondary data according to the Thomas´ Cultural Standards Method. This chapter also includes the formulation of recommendations for Czechs in current or future work contacts with Japanese in order to improve the quality of intercultural relations.
