Wi-Fi nets and their security

Abstract:

V dnešní době, kdy je připojení k internetu nezbytnou součástí života téměř všech lidí ve vyspělém světě, je nutností provozovat takové sítě, které nám umožní připojení k internetu prakticky všude. Takovouto možnost nám poskytují zejména bezdrátové sítě standartu IEEE 802.11 známé pod označením jako sítě WiFi. Tyto sítě jsou navrhovány a budovány tak, aby do nich měly přístup všichni uživatelé, kteří mají patřičná oprávnění využívat služby této sítě. Existují zde ale také možnosti, jak se do bezdrátových sítí připojit, bez patřičného oprávnění, a zneužívat služeb těchto sítí. Proto je potřeba bezdrátové sítě před těmito ,,útoky“ zabezpečit. Obsahem mé bakalářské práce je zhodnocení všech možností zabezpečení WiFi sítí, představení možností neoprávněného přístupu a užívání těchto sítí, včetně možnosti ochrany před těmito přístupy. Další částí mé práce je praktická implementace konkrétního zabezpečení v soukromé WiFi síti, na jejímž návrhu, výstavbě a provozu se sám podílím.

Abstract:

Nowadays, when the internet connection is an essential part of the life of almost all the people in the developed world, there is a need for conducting such kind of network that will be able to provide internet access practically everywhere. This opportunity is offered especially by a wireless standard network of IEEE 802.11, also known as a Wi-Fi. These networks are designed and constructed so that all the users, who have an appropriate license, could access the network services. There also exist a way how people can connect to the wireless network without the appropriate license, therefore there is a demand for ensure wireless networks against these “ attacks”. The subject of my bachelor thesis is the estimation of all the possible ways of the Wi-Fi networks security as well as the introduction of the possibilities of an unauthorized access and also the use of these networks including security possibilities against these methods. Another part of my thesis is practical implementation of concrete security for private Wi-Fi network, that design and construction I am involved in.
