Half-sandwich Os(II) complexes containing chelating thiadiazole-based indomethacin-functionalized ligands

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce spadá do oblasti bioanorganické chemie, konkrétně se zabývá syntézou a studiem polosendvičových koordinačních sloučenin. Této problematice je věnována podstatná část teoretické části. V navazující experimentální části jsou popsány syntézy a výsledky vybraných metod fyzikálně-chemické charakterizace koordinačních sloučenin (elementární analýza, nukleární magnetická resonance (NMR), hmotnostní spektrometrie, infračervená spektroskopie a monokrystalová rentgenová strukturní analýza). Konkrétně, jak je dáno názvem práce, byly studovány polosendvičové osemnaté komplexy se třemi deriváty 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazolu, z nichž dva nesly biologicky aktivní substituent indometacin. Vzhledem k tomu, že hlavní cíle práce byly poměrně záhy naplněny, byly učiněny pokusy o přípravu podobných koordinačních sloučenin s jinými centrálními atomy (tj. iridium a ruthenium), tyto ale nevedly k požadovaným produktům. Z toho důvodu byly do práce zahrnuty další deriváty 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazolu, od nichž už byly připraveny a studovány pouze komplexy iridité.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis belongs to the field of bioinorganic chemistry. Specifically, it deals with the synthesis and characterization of half-sandwich coordination compounds. This area of bioinorganic chemistry is also described in the theoretical part of the thesis. In the experimental part of the thesis, all the syntheses are described together with the results of analytical techniques used for the characterization of the prepared complexes (i.e. elemental analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray analysis. In particular, in connection with the title of the thesis, half-sandwich Os(II) complexes with three different 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives were studied, and two of them were biofunctionalized by the biologically active substituent - indomethacin. Because the main objectives of the thesis were fulfilled very soon, other syntheses with different platinum metals (i.e. iridium and ruthenium) were performed, but no products were obtained. That is why other 5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives were involved to the investigation - only Ir(III) complexes were prepared with these derivatives.
