Radio as a new media: remediation of Czech Radio in the internet environment

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je remediace klasického rozhlasového vysílání do prostředí nového média – internetu. Na transformaci rozhlasu do nového mediálního prostředí nahlíží jako na proces remediace podle Jay D. Boltera a Richarda Grusina. Práce udává srovnání jednotlivých aspektů obou variant přenosu dat v reálném čase v kontextu historickém a technickém. Ukazuje formaci rozhlasového vysílání v průběhu času, které vyústilo až do dnešní podoby souběžného vysílání pomocí elektromagnetického vlnění a internetového rádia. Autor práce se zaměřuje především na vývoj rozhlasového vysílání veřejnoprávního média s jeho specifickými vlastnostmi a požadavky. Práce je zakončena případovou studií Českého rozhlasu, v níž ukazuje praktickou stránku využitelnosti internetového rádia. Analyzuje nové podoby obsahů masového média, které vznikají jeho transformací do internetového prostředí.

Abstract:

This paper studies the remediation of classic radio broadcasting into the environment of a new medium - the Internet. Transformation of broadcasting is considered to be a proccess of remediation by Jay D. Bolter and Richard Grusin. The study focuses on comparation of particular aspects of both types of transmission the data in real time in historical and technical context. It also shows fomation of radio broadcasting in time which results into today form of parallel broadcasting by electromagentic waves and internet radio. The author of this paper focuses on development of radio broadcasting of public medium with its specific properties and requirements. The study is culminating in a case study of Czech Radio in which shows the practical aspect - usibility of an internet radio. It analysis new forms of contents of mass medium which are created by its transformation into the internet environment.
