The Paris Peace Conference in 1918 and inadequate settlement of World War 1

Abstract:

This bachelor theses deals with the issue of Paris Peace Conference and consequences of World War I. It describes and deals with the situation of Slovak nation in the field of the European and world events, its emancipating aspiration to reach independence. It tries to describe a common battle of the Slovaks and the Czechs for their rights since the forties of 19th century, throught the situation nearly before the war and throught the World War I, until the foundation of common state under authority of self-determination. On the basis of this right of nations, the Slovaks, the Czechs and the other nations of Europe accepted the democratic principles of international relations, which has been formulated by the US president Woodrow Wilson in his fourteen points. They are the base of international documents, which clearly includes Trianon Peace Treaty and the other Versailles peace treaties. These peace treaties accepted by Paris Peace Conference created whole new relations between European countries after World War I, but at the same time they contained contradictions, that finally led to the begining of World War II.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá témou Parížskej mierovej konferencie a dôsledkami 1. svetovej vojny. Popisuje a rozoberá na pozadí európskych a svetových udalostí situáciu Slovenského národa, jeho emancipačné snahy o získanie samostatnosti. Snaží sa opísať spoločný boj Slovákov a Čechov za svoje práva od štyridsiatych rokov 19. storočia, cez situáciu tesne pred vojnou a počas 1. svetovej vojny až do vytvorenia spoločného štátu na základe sebaurčovacieho práva. Na základe tohoto práva národov Slováci a Česi i ďalšie národy Európy prijali demokratické princípy medzinárodných vzťahov, ktoré zformuloval americký prezident Woodrow Wilson vo svojich štrnástich bodoch. Sú ukotvené v medzinárodných dokumentoch, ku ktorým jednoznačne patrí Trianonská mierová zmluva a ďalšie mierové zmluvy z Versailles. Tieto mierové zmluvy prijaté Parížskou mierovou konferenciou nanovo upravili vzťahy medzi európskymi štátmi po 1.svetovej vojne, ale obsahovali zároveň rozpory, ktoré nakoniec viedli k vzniku 2. svetovej vojny.
