The role of women in the area of sound art in the context of Scandinavia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce s názvem Role žen v oblasti sound art v kontextu Skandinávie se věnuje ženským představitelkám uměleckého směru sound art ve Skandinávii. Práce přináší ucelený přehled nejvýznamnějších skandinávských a ve Skandinávii působících umělkyň, které se zasloužily o rozvoj sound artu a elektroakustické hudby obecně, a přispěly tak k emancipaci žen na poli experimentální hudby. Práce se zabývá vznikem a vývojem této umělecké oblasti s ohledem na rozvoj ve Skandinávii, a na to, jak lze sound art definovat. Mapuje jednotlivé umělkyně, jejich zaměření, charakteristické rysy, tvorbu a přínos k rozvoji sound artové kultury. Zabývá se otázkou feminismu v hudbě jako myšlenkové směru, který přispěl k emancipaci žen. Dále přináší přehled umělkyň působících ve Skandinávii, sound artové skupiny, instituce a festivaly.

Abstract:

This thesis called The role of women in the area of sound art in the context of Scandinavia deals with female representatives of the art movement called sound art in Scandinavia. The aim of this thesis is to provide a complex overview of the most important Scandinavian and in Scandinavia working female artists that have contributed to the development of sound art and electroacoustic music in general and conduced to the emancipation of women in the area of experimental music. The thesis focuses on the origin and development of sound art, with regard to its expansion in Scandinavia, and how sound art can be defined. It maps individual artists, their specialization, attributes, production and assets to the expansion of sound art culture. It deals with a question of feminism in music and its contribution to the emancipation of women. Also, it brings a summary of female artists active in Scandinavia, sound art bands, institutions and festivals.
