Forest and shrub vegetation of former forest-free area in the Bílé Karpaty Mts.

Abstract:

During the vegetation season of years 2005-2008 there was performed a study of shrub vegetation for this Master Thesis in Biele Karpaty Mts. There were created four variants of classification of recorded relevés on the basis of different criteria (species composition, succession age derived from historical maps, abundancy of shrubs and trees or physiognomy of vegetation). Defined groups and successional stages were characterized by determination of diagnostic and dominant species and retrospectively by comparing of average Ellenberg indication values of relevés in these groups. There were sought main gradients in species composition of data by ordination analysis. The main gradient found was interpreted as gradient from light-demanding and thermophylic species-rich vegetation of sparse scrub to closed forest vegetation growing on nutrient rich and moist habitats. In addition to this, there was tested influence of different climatic, geomorfological and geografic factors on species variability. Results show that these factors are significant in defining of variability of species composition in shrub vegetation. When different species characteristics in different successional stages were compared, particular ecological trends in succession on abondoned meadows and pastures appeared. There are more dominant C-strategist, perennial species, species with generative reproduction and phanerophytes polinated by wind in older successional stages in comparison with initial successional stages. Changes of vegetation in different successional stages were recorded as following: Succession leads according to the conditions of habitat from transitional communities with species of broad-leaved dry grasslands (Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati, Bromion erecti), mesophylic meadows (Arrhenatherion elatioris) and alternately moist meadows (Molinion caeruleae) to thermophylic scrubs related to the alliance Ligustro-Prunetum or to mesophylic scrubs of the alliance Rhamno catharticae-Cornetum sanguinae. Mesophylic scrub with Cornus sanguinea may have developed from thermophylic shrub vegetation with Prunus spinosa. Following successional stages are Carpatian oak-hornbeam forests of the alliance Carici pilosae-Carpinetum.

Abstract:

V diplomovej práci sú predložené výsledky štúdie zaoberajúcej sa vegetáciou krovín a mladých lesov Bielych Karpát zaznamenanou počas vegetačných sezón 2005–2008. Na základe rôznych kritérií (druhové zloženie, sukcesný vek odvodený z historických máp, pokryvností drevín či fyziognómie porastu) boli vytvorené štyri varianty klasifikácie zozbieraných fytocenologických zápisov. Vyčlenené skupiny a sukcesné štádiá boli charakterizované stanovením diagnostických a dominantných druhov a spätne porovnaním priemerných Ellenbergových indikačných hodnôt zápisov v týchto skupinách. Ordinačnými analýzami boli hľadané hlavné gradienty v druhovom zložení dát. Najvýraznejším gradientom druhovej diverzity krovín a lesov sa tak ukázal byť gradient druhovo bohatých otvorených porastov so svetlomilnými a teplomilnými druhmi k zapojeným porastom na úživných a vlhkých stanovištiach. Testovaný bol ďalej vplyv rôznych klimatických, geomorfologických a geografických faktorov na druhovú variabilitu. Ukázalo sa, že tieto faktory hrajú tiež nezanedbateľnú rolu v určovaní variability druhového zloženia tejto vegetácie. Pri porovnaní uplatnenia rôznych druhových charakteristík v jednotlivých sukcesných štádiách sa ukázali určité ekologické trendy v sukcesii na opustených lúkach a pasienkoch. Oproti počiatočným štádiám sa v sukcesne starších porastov výrazne uplatňujú konkurenční stratégovia, vytrvalé druhy rozmnožujúce sa generatívne, fanerofyty opeľované vetrom. Vegetačný prechod sukcesnými štádiami bol zaznamenaný nasledovne: z prechodných spoločenstiev s druhmi širokolistých suchých trávnikov (Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati, Bromion erecti), mezofilných ovsíkových lúk (Arrhenatherion elatioris) a striedavo vlhkých bezkolencových lúk (Molinion caeruleae) sukcesia smeruje podľa podmienok stanovišťa buď k teplomilným krovinám príbuzným asociácii Ligustro-Prunetum, alebo k mezofilným krovinám asociácie Rhamno catharticae-Cornetum sanguinae. Mezofilné svíbové kroviny pravdepodobne môžu byť i nasledovníkmi teplomilných trnkových porastov. Ďalej sa sukcesia uberá smerom ku karpatským dubohrabinám asociácie Carici pilosae-Carpinetum.
