The position of district children's homes in the system of youth care in South Moravia (1918-1938)

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská diplomová práce se věnuje postavení Okresních dětských domovů v systému péče o mládež v letech 1918-1938. Tuto část sociální péče o normální děti delegoval stát na dobrovolné spolky, tzv. Okresní péče o mládež. Ty působily v rámci každého soudního okresu jako samostatné jednotky na Moravě sdružené pod ústředím České zemské péče o mládež. Jako nestátní spolky se musely spoléhat na podporu veřejnosti, jelikož státní dotace činily jen malou část příjmů. Práce tedy popisuje proces vytváření sítě Okresních dětských domovů pod taktovkou Okresních péčí o mládež. Cílem je vymezit jejich postavení v rámci činnosti spolků a nastínit postoj veřejnosti k těmto aktivitám. Studie se se týká území dnešního Jihomoravského kraje. Vzhledem k hospodářským, politickým i demografickým rozdílům v dané oblasti je součástí práce také krátký exkurz do sociálních poměrů jednotlivých okresů a jejich zvláštností.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the position of district children´s homes in the system of youth care from 1918 to 1938. This part of the social care of healthy children was delegeted to voluntary association by government, so-called District youth care. These associations worked as separate units in each district, they were combined under Czech Provincial Youth Care in Moravia. These associatons were non-governmental and had to depend on public support, national grant was just a minority income. This thesis describes the process of creating district children´s homes under District youth care influence. The specification of children´s homes position among activities of other associations is the aim of this work, as well as to outline the public attitude to these activities. The study bears on South Moravian Region. A brief digression to social stratification and their specificities in each district is a part of this thesis, according to economic, politicas and demographic difference in this area.
