Mythological creatures of earth, fire, fate and water among Slavs

Abstract:

In the first part, I describe theoretical knowledge about mythology as a science that investigates individual myths. I define the basic concepts related to this topic and I also deal with Slavs in general. In the second and third parts, I try to bring the reader closer to the issue of mythological entities, inhabiting earth, water, controlling fire and fate, as it was understood in the East Slavic environment, while constantly relying on their analogues in the entire Slavic space. The basic core of the work is devoted to concrete and basic beings inhabiting individual zones, their main characteristics, and actions

Abstract:

V prvej časti popisujeme teoretické poznatky o mytológii ako o vede, ktorá skúma jednotlivé mýty. Vymedzujeme základné pojmy, ktoré s touto tematikou súvisia a taktiež sa venujeme Slovanom všeobecne. V druhej a tretej časti sa snažíme priblížiť problematiku mytologických entít, obývajúcich zem, vodu, ovládajúcich oheň a osud tak, ako bola ponímaná́ vo východoslovanskom prostredí pričom sa však neustále opierame o ich obdoby v celom slovanskom priestore. Základné jadro práce je venované konkrétnym a základným bytostiam, obývajúcim jednotlivé́ zóny, ich hlavným charakteristikám a pôsobeniu.
