Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vztahem a transformací postojů člověka k věčnému tématu smrti v rámci kulturního vývoje Evropy. Neopomíjí ani tématiku moru, prostředí středověkých hřbitovů a sepulkrálních památek, aby tak přiblížila důvody vzniku karnerů – specifických románských a raně gotických hřbitovních kaplí a především kostnic, které s postupem času jejich roli přebírají a jsou tak v době baroka využity k cílenému dramatickému působení na lidskou mysl. Stěžejní část práce je však věnována především unikátní kostnici pod kostelem sv. Jakuba Většího v Brně – jejímu objevu, sanaci, archeologickému, stavebně-historickému a antropologickému průzkumu, transformaci v expozici – Kostnice u sv. Jakuba, architektonické a finanční problematice, muzeopedagogickému využití a propagaci. Tyto jedinečné památky jsou dokladem přístupu člověka ke smrti, bohatým zdrojem osteologického matriálu pro další antropologický výzkum, ukázkou nevšední prezentace tohoto poněkud zvláštního sbírkového předmětu a pramenem dalšího kulturně-historického poznání o životě našich předků.

Abstract:

This work deals with the relationship and transformation of the human attitude to the eternal theme of death in the European cultural development. Among other things, it focuses on the theme of plague (black death), the middle-ages graveyards and sepulchral monuments to explain the origin of ossuaries – the specific Romanesque and Early Gothic cemetery chapels and subsequent charnel houses that were used in the Baroque period to target and dramatically influence the human spirit. The fundamental part of the work concentrates on the charnel house under the St. James the Greater church in Brno –its discovery, sanitation and archaeological, construction, historical and anthropological examination and its transformation into an exposition “The Charnel House of St. James Church” as well as on the architectural and finance issues, museopedagogical application and promotion. These unique relics document the human attitude to the topic of death, and represent an abundant source of osteological material for further anthropological examination. They present an unusual collection and are the a source of further cultural and historical knowledge about the life of our ancestors.
