On-line Tools for Nonprofit Organizations Focusing on Community Foundations and their Role in Civil Society

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce On-line nástroje pro neziskové organizace se zaměřením na komunitní nadace a jejich roli v občanské společnosti je výstupem roční pracovní stáže v komunitní nadaci Berkshire Community Foundation ve Velké Británii. Je zaměřena na roli komunity a filantropie v občanské společnosti s návazností na působnost a problematiku neziskových organizací. Představuje novou platformu – komunitní nadace, jenž mají tendenci řešit velkou část těchto problémů na lokální úrovni. Autorka diplomové práce chápe neziskové organizace jako nástroje občanské společnosti, které by měly být schopné reagovat na změny ve společnosti. Z tohoto důvodu v práci uvádí možnosti využití nástrojů pro neziskové organizace dostupné v on-line prostředí, a to především jako reakci na přesun k informační společnosti.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis On-line Tools for Non-profit organizations focusing on Community Foundations and their Role in Civil Society draws on knowledge and experience gained during a one year internship at the Berkshire Community Foundation, in the United Kingdom. The thesis focuses on the roles of community and philanthropy in civil society and also on non-profit organizations, including some of the problem areas of these organisations. It also introduces a new platform; that of community foundations, suggesting that these foundations have the potential to solve most of these aforementioned problems at a local level. The author of the thesis understands that non-profit organizations are a tool of civil society, and should be able to react to changes in that society. For that reason, the thesis suggests the use of on-line tools for non-profit organizations as a reaction to the present day movement towards an information society.
