British sculpture from Moore to Armitage

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the development of British sculpture in the 20th century. However, the principal concern of this paper is the work of a well-known British sculptor Henry Moore and his impact on other artists. First of all, the thesis contains a detailed description of sources of influences which formed Moore?s life and are reflected in his art. It further determines his artistic importance and contribution to British sculpture and considers Moore?s influence on his contemporaries, as well as on future generations of sculptures and it evaluates overall development of sculpture in Britain. Finally, some of the works are visualised in the appendices attached to text.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem britského sochařství ve 20. století. Zaměřuje se především na nejznámějšího britského sochaře Henryho Moora, jeho tvorbu a vliv, který měl na ostatní umělce. Nejprve práce podrobně popisuje vlivy, jež formovaly Moorův život a jejich promítnutí do jeho tvorby. Popisuje význam a přínos jeho děl britskému sochařství. Následně hodnotí vliv, který měl Moore, jak na své současníky, tak na budoucí generace sochařů a vývoj sochařství v Británii vůbec. Ve svém závěru je práce doplněna grafickou přílohou, která dokresluje textovou část.
