Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na film Hořký měsíc (1992) režiséra Romana Polanského a analyzuje jeho autorskou poetiku prostřednictvím feministické filmové teorie. Hlavním cílem je zkoumat reprezentaci destruktivního vztahu, sexuality a sadomasochismu jako narativních struktur moci a sledovat, zda lze v těchto motivech identifikovat autobiografické konotace související s Polanského veřejně diskutovanými kauzami. Metodologicky práce vychází z konceptu mužského pohledu Laury Mulvey, narativní touhy a technologie genderu Teresy de Lauretis a teorie maškarády Mary Ann Doane. Analýza je doplněna komparací filmové adaptace s románovou předlohou Pascala Brucknera a zohledňuje mediální diskurz a výpovědi obětí. Výsledky ukazují, že film konstruuje ženskou postavu primárně jako objekt touhy a trestu, přičemž proměna mocenských rolí nevede k autentické emancipaci, ale reprodukuje patriarchální dynamiku. Práce uzavírá, že Hořký měsíc estetizuje destruktivní touhu, mocenskou dominanci a utrpení způsobem, který zároveň odhaluje znepokojivé paralely s osobními tendencemi režiséra Roman Polanski

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the film Bitter Moon (1992) by director Roman Polanski and analyzes its auteur poetics through the lens of feminist film theory. The main objective is to examine the representation of destructive relationships, sexuality, and sadomasochism as narrative structures of power and to investigate whether autobiographical connotations related to Polanski's publicly discussed scandals can be identified in these motifs. Methodologically, the thesis draws on Laura Mulvey's concept of the male gaze, Teresa de Lauretis's narrative desire and technologies of gender, and Mary Ann Doane's theory of masquerade. The analysis is supplemented by a comparison of the film adaptation with Pascal Bruckner's original novel and takes into account media discourse and testimonies of the victims. The results show that the film constructs the female character primarily as an object of desire and punishment, while the reversal of power roles does not lead to authentic emancipation but rather reproduces patriarchal dynamics. The thesis concludes that Bitter Moon aestheticizes destructive desire, power dominance, and suffering in a way that simultaneously reveals disturbing parallels with the personal tendencies of director Roman Polanski.
