The Issue of Negative Spot Prices of Electricity Prices

Abstract:

V předkládané práci se budeme zabývat problémem záporných cen na spotových trzích s elektřinou. Nejprve si představíme trh s elektrickou energií, jeho účastníky a jeho dělení podle doby, která uplyne od uzavření kontraktu do dodávky elektřiny. V dalším textu si vysvětlíme pojem spotové ceny a také ekonomické důvody pro povolení záporných cen na spotových trzích. Těžištěm práce bude popis a navrh řešení problémů, které vznikají při zpracování dat se zápornými hodnotami a aplikace navrhnutých postupů na reálná data.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of negative electricity prices. At first, the electricity markets with their segments and participants are introduced. Secondly, the spot markets and the spot prices are discussed and subsequently the economic motivation leading to negative prices is explained. The following part focuses on the description of few problems concerning the negative prices. I try to suggest possible ways of dealing with this issue while applying the proposed solutions to real data collected.
