Thematic atlas project of the Konice region

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje projektu tematického atlasu Konicka, který je správním obvodem obce s rozšířenou působností v jihozápadní části Olomouckého kraje. Atlas pokrývá hlavní fyzickogeografické a sociálně–ekonomické otázky regionu. V rešeršní části se zaměřuje na kartografickou literaturu s důrazem na tematické mapy a již existující atlasy. Následující kapitoly shrnují dělení map, problematiku kompozičních prvků či metodologii tvorby tematických map. Stěžejní část se zabývá samotné tvorbě tematického atlasu v programu ArcGIS Pro a popisuje vznik jednotlivých mapových listů a vizualizaci. V atlase byly zahrnuty metody bodových, liniových a plošných znaků, metoda kartogramu a metoda kartodiagramu. Nadstavbové prvky tvoří grafy, tabulky, textové marginálie, fotografie a vektorová grafika. Finální částí byla kompletace jednotlivých mapových listů ve vhodném tiskovém rozvržení, jejímž výsledkem byl Atlas Konicka.

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor's thesis was the creation of a thematic atlas of Konicko, which is a district of municipalities with extended competence located in the southern part of the Olomouc district. The atlas covers the main physical-geographic and socio-economic characteristics of the region. The theoretical part focuses on the research of cartographic literature with emphasis on thematic maps and existing atlases. The following chapters summarize the classification, the composition, the methodology, and the production of thematic maps. The core section deals with the creation of a thematic atlas in ArcGIS Pro software and describes the process of making individual map sheets and visualizations. The main methods used in the atlas are point, line, and area feature (visualization) methods, Choropleth, and cartodiagram methods. Superstructural elements consist of graphs, tables, text, photographs, and vector graphics. The final part was the assembly of individual map sheets in a suitable print layout, the result of this thesis is the Atlas of Konicko.
