Influence of perception of security forces on national identity of civil public of Slovak and Czech republic

Abstract:

This work concerns perception of state security forces by civil public and its influence on construction of national identity. The main objective is explanation of the phenomenon of national identity, its perception by the society in connection with the presentation of security forces, with their declared ideological base and with the outward expression. This work examines factors of the function and the execution of security forces on the one hand and the symbology and the symbolic factors influencing national identity on the other hand. Its acquisition consists in the description of the relation among a state, its national institutions and a structure of the national identity where particularly security forces play significant role. The main finding is the fact that security forces play the role of an intermediary between the state and the construction of national identity. This mediatorial function involves the very execution and the mission of security forces which means the protection and the cover of internal and external security and the public order as well as the symbology of the nation, of the state and the territory which is used by the security forces but simultaneously it can represent such categories by which the security forces can be presented as a national symbol. This work outlines an impact of world globalization on national identity that is constructed also by means of security forces and so it forms a space for another researches of this problem.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá percepciou bezpečnostných zložiek štátu civilnou verejnosťou a vplyvom tejto percepcie na formovanie jej národnej identity. Za hlavný cieľ si ukladá objasniť fenomén národnej identity, jej vnímanie spoločnosťou v spojitosti s prezentáciou bezpečnostných zložiek, ich deklarovaným ideovým základom a vonkajším prejavom. Práca skúma na jednej strane faktory funkcie a výkonu bezpečnostných zložiek a na druhej strane symboliku a symbolické faktory, vplývajúce na národnú identitu. Ťažiskový prínos bakalárskej práce spočíva v popísaní vzťahu medzi štátom, štátnymi inštitúciami a konštrukciou národnej identity, v ktorom zohrávajú podstatnú rolu práve bezpečnostné zložky. Hlavným zistením je, že bezpečnostné zložky zohrávajú úlohu sprostredkovateľa medzi štátom a formovaním národnej identity. Táto sprostredkovateľská funkcia spočíva v samotnom výkone a poslaní bezpečnostných zložiek, ktorým je ochrana a zabezpečnovanie vonkajšej i vnútornej bezpečnosti a poriadku ako aj v používanej symbolike národa, štátu a teritória, ktorou sa bezpečnostné zložky prezentujú, no zároveň môže predstavovať kategórie, ktoré môžu samotné bezpečnostné zložky stavať do role národného symbolu. Práca zároveň načrtáva vplyv svetovej globalizácie na národnú identitu konštruovanú i pomocou bezpečnostných zložiek a vytvára tak priestor pre ďalšie skúmanie tejto problematiky.
