The meaning of a toy in the life of a child aged two to four years

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá významem hračky v životě dítěte od dvou do čtyř let. Teoretická část charakterizuje dítě v batolecím a předškolním období. Následuje historie, charakteristika a klasifikace hraček. Dále se zaměřuje na kritéria a požadavky hraček, která by měla hračka splňovat. Také se zaobírá hrou zejména její charakteristikou, dělením a podmínkami pro hru. Konec teoretické části je orientován na vymezení pojmu gender, genderové stereotypy a dělení hraček dle genderu. Praktická část se zabývá průzkumným šetřením s cílem zjistit, jaká kritéria ovlivňují výběr hraček u dvouletých až čtyřletých dětí. Na základě průzkumného šetření byl proveden kvantitativní průzkum formou tištěného a elektronického dotazníku. Závěr bakalářské práce vyhodnocuje celkové výsledky tohoto šetření. Z mého průzkumu jsem vyhodnotila, že pro dvouleté až čtyřleté děti hlavním faktorem při výběru hračky je tvar a barva hračky. Nátlak komerce a stále přetrvávající genderové stereotypy nehrají hlavní roli. Děti rovněž oceňují funkci hračky a četnost herních možností.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the importance of toys in the life of a child from two to four years. The theoretical part characterizes a child in toddler and preschool period. History, characterization and classification of toys follows. It also focuses on the criteria and requirements of toys that should be met. It also deals with the game, its characteristics, division and conditions for the game. The end of the theoretical part is focused on the definition of the term gender, gender stereotypes and division of toys according to gender. The practical part deals with the exploratory investigation with the aim to find out what criteria affect the selection of toys in children aged two to four. Based on the survey, a quantitative survey was carried out in the form of a printed questionnaire. The conclusion of the thesis evaluates the overall results of this survey. From my survey, I evaluated that for children aged two to four, the main factor in choosing a toy is the shape and color of the toy. The commercial pressure and the persisting gender stereotypes do not play a major role. Children also appreciate the function of the toy and the frequency of play options.
