Miroslav Tichý: an attempt at reconstruction of author

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá Miroslavem Tichým a jeho životním, uměleckým a v neposlední řadě mediálním příběhem. Je příběhem ,podivína‘, podexponovaných, rozostřených fotografií a podomácky vyrobených fotoaparátů. Práce je rozdělena do dvanácti kapitol. V první kapitole se zabývám životem Miroslava Tichého. V kapitole druhé se zaměřuji na důležité období, kdy Miroslav Tichý reflektuje svůj malebný i tragický svět ve fotografii – zabývá se jí ovšem ve formě, jejíž osobitost a nezvyklost je až šokující. Ve třetí kapitole se věnuji ústřednímu motivu ženy v Tichého fotografické tvorbě. Ženy, zachycené v socialistických reáliích maloměsta, kterou po zvětšení a otisknutí nechává napospas myším a prachu. V další kapitole se věnuji umělcovu běžnému dni jako svéráznému životnímu postoji. Pátá kapitola reflektuje ,flâneura‘: postavu tuláka původně vytvořenou Charlesem Baudelairem. Šestá kapitola rozebírá koncept mimesis a mimetické hledisko v Tichého fotografii. V sedmé kapitole se zabývám teorií geniality, tak jak ji nalezneme v konceptech Edwarda Younga, Immanuela Kanta, Arthura Schopenhauera apod. V osmé kapitole se věnuji spisu Waltera Benjamina Umělecké dílo ve věku své technické reprodukovatelnosti a jeho pojmu ,aura‘ uměleckého díla. Aura se ve věku své technické reprodukovatelnosti ztrácí, u fotografie se vytrácí automaticky s nástupem prvních fotografických reprodukcí. V dalších kapitolách pak odkrývám mediální příběh Miroslava Tichého v konfrontaci se skutečným příběhem. V posledních kapitolách je možné nalézt moje osobní vzpomínky a srovnání krajního solipsismu Miroslava Tichého s českým filosofem Ladislavem Klímou. V příloze magisterské práce naleznete dosud nepublikované kresby, malby a fotografie Miroslava Tichého.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with Miroslav Tichý and his life, art and medial story. It is a story of eccentric, a story about blurred, underexposed photos and homemade cameras. This work is divided into twelve chapters. In the first chapter I deal with the life of Miroslav Tichý. I am focusing on the important time period, when Miroslav Tichý reflects his pictorial and tragic life in photography, in chapter two – Tichý is here concerned with photography in unused and shocking form. I attend to his central motif – the woman - in the third chapter. And these are the prints we know and we admire, his reflection of reality. Once the pictures were taken, printed, framed, they lost all importance for him, becoming sometimes fodder for the rats or fuel for fireplace, losing all material significance. In the next chapter I apply his routine day as an original life's position. Fifth chapter reflects the character of ,flâneur‘: The figure of the stroller originated with Charles Baudelaire in his 1863 book Constantin Guys, le Peintre de la Vie moderne, in which he describes the curious painter's purposeless urban wandering as a new manner of apprehending reality. Sixth chapter is about concept mimesis and mimetic view in Tichýs photographs. Seventh chapter is about concept of geniality that you can find in the writings of Edward Young, Immanuel Kant, Arthur Schopenhauer and the others. Eighth chapter reflects Walter Benjamin's essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and its famous word ,aura‘. This term Benjamin used to refer to the sense of awe and reverence one presumably experienced in the presence of unique works of art. In the last chapters you can find the medial story of Miroslav Tichý, his real story, my memories and his comparison with Czech philosopher Ladislav Klíma. You can find some drawing and photographs of Miroslav Tichý in supplement of my work. These pictures have never been published yet.
